Baldwin County Alabama Pistol Permit Guidelines / Laws:
« on: January 27, 2011, 12:57:50 PM »
I had to search to find the link for the Pistol Permit application. The PDF file includes information and the application.

On the application it ask for all the information on all of your handguns.
Make of Pistol, of Revolver, Caliber, Serial Number.

The reason listed is so they may aid you in the event of theft.

Give it to them if you want.  I would prefer to keep up with my own serial numbers.  If the government ever decides to come get our guns, I would rather they did not know which ones or how many I had.

Not required to put the info down. I bet we are the winner for the states most expensive pistol permit. 35.00. Since the new sheriff is in town, I don't get a renewal letter.

Totally ridiculous.   No wonder they want to keep the requirement for permits to carry in your vehicle. >:( >:(

Does that include the bribe for the person you give the application to to actually pass it along?

Have a look-see at the Morgan County application.

There's no reason for any sheriff to ask all that information. If he has a legal reason to know, then he has access to the information. He doesn't have to ask me for it, someone else already provided him access to it.

Ok so I have some dumb questions, First Im moving to the area and I want to get my Permit, I already have a TN HCP so im good. But what does it really mean by Open carry? As long as everyone can see it I can have it? I dont like to show my pieces off, it gives the criminals a second to think about the situation, So I want to keep them concealed. Is it hard to get a permit in Baldwin county? oh I have a freind who wants to buy a Handgun, how old do you have to be to purchase?

18 to purchase on private transfer 21 from FFL

Open carry is anything other than concealed. In Alabama you require a permit to conceal or to carry in a vehicle.

Why wouldn't you want the criminals to think about it? Most likely they will choose to commit their crime some other time or place rather than confront armed citizens. if you are concealed, you like just like the sheep.

Concealed carry is a tactical advantage for OFFENSIVE use of firearms, not defensive.

Until you "pull", he doesn't know you're armed. You look just like an unarmed person.

Now, let's settle the next rumor: OCers are going to get robbed of a gun for OCing.

When was the last time you hear of a cop getting his wallet stolen from his person while in uniform and carrying?

You don't pick a fight with a man with a gun. If the element of surprise is the only element you're relying on, the man with the gun OC is the one with the tactical advantage. He draws faster.
